The Canadian producer and video creator Harrison Kraft recently released 5 video clips, shot on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K using the Tokina AT-X 14-20mm F2 PRO Canon EF lens.
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras are one of the most demanded video hardware brands, not only among professionals but also among amateur video creators. That said, Blackmagic does not produce their own lenses. Content creators need to find their own lens amongst various brands on the market. The best option would be to purchase a cinema lens, but they can be quite pricey.
By showcasing these video works from Harrison Kraft, Tokina is offering a new option to videographers, video content creators and heavy Blackmagic users to choose Tokina lenses, in particular the Tokina AT-X 14-20mm F2 PRO DX EF lens. This claim is backed up by:
1) Tokina AT-X 14-20 F2 PRO DX is the best high spec and performance wide angle lens ever produced by Japanese third party lens manufacturers on the market.
2) Tokina AT-X 14-20 F2 PRO DX features zooming abilities at a constant F2 aperture that is important in video shooting.
3) Tokina AT-X 14-20 F2 PRO DX is a budget friendly option for amateur videographers that ideally balances with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera price.
This is how Harrison Kraft shares his experience with Tokina AT-X 14-20 F2 PRO DX lens:
1) Why did you choose the Tokina 14-20mm F2 for creating your video works?
"When shooting with a zoom lens, I like to have a fast constant aperture throughout the zoom range. This allows me to not have to adjust lighting or ND filtration when changing focal length. In addition, there are no other wide zoom lenses at this price point with an aperture this fast."
2) What is your feedback about the performance of the lens with the BMPCC 4K camera?
"When using the Bmpcc 4K, I like to use a .71x speedbooster to allow me to get a similar image that I would if using a Super 35mm sensor. The fast aperture allows for a pleasing shallow depth of field with fantastic image sharpness. The focus throw is a very good distance around the lens barrel."
3) If you were asked what you think about the Tokina 14-20mm F2, what pros would point out?
"Great quality for price. Solid build. Great optics. Fast aperture. Good flare control. Focus breathing is relatively minimal."
